Game 18 - Unimatrix One - 16th August 2021

Captain's Log Stardate Unknown

Unimatrix One

We agreed to enter Unimatrix One to assist the Borg with their invasion. We stood inside the alcoves and were instantly transported to a sylvan scene which stood in stark contrast to the assimilated nature of the planet. A strange pagan-esque symbol was carved in the centre of a set of standing stones. As we approach, several ghoulish creatures, similar to those we encountered on the Doomsday Machine, materialised around us. We used the power of our minds to focus our efforts. Fortunately our Starfleet discipline kicked in and we focussed on the combat at hand. After defeating the creatures, we ventured further into the woodlands. We encountered the Marauder creatures that we know as the "Nosferatu". We dispatched them also, but it does lead one to ask the question, "why are they here?".

On returning to the real world, we agreed with the Borg that he would turn off his power coupling at a per-arranged signal that we would send out.

USS Princeton Survivors

Our next stop was a large warehouse nearby. We carefully checked the outside and followed an alleyway to a small side door. We ventured inside and began a systematic search. We discovered some old bolt-throwing firearms inside with which we immediately armed ourselves. The Borg only seem able to assimilate electronic technology and biological organisms.

Inside the main warehouse, Tren sensed multiple life-forms. We discovered three Starfleet Tellarite officers. One was trying to defrost his two colleagues who were sealed inside cryo-tubes. Akio and Mabrin immediately leapt into action, assisting the Tellarite with the de-hibernation of his colleagues. Tren recognised the Tellarites as part of the engineering crew of the USS Princeton which was destroyed at Wolf 359. After the Tellarites had successfully been revived, Tren learned from them that they remembered being exposed to the vacuum of space, but they had no memory after that. Apparently the Borg had kept them in hibernation since then.

The Tellarites readily agreed to deactivate the power coupling at their location at the pre-arranged signal.

Negative Space

At the next Power Coupling location, we discovered an entry point to a long-disused sewer. The smell was quite incredible.

Beneath the ground, in the tunnels, we discovered another old friend. Ruk was lurking along with one of the skeletal androids from the Doomsday Machine. Ruk was his usual co-operative self. He indicated that he did not know the wishes of his masters (who he identified as The Marauders). He had been instructed to wait here. We questioned him further and discovered that some of his masters at least had entered the city a week ago. For what purpose, Ruk did not know.

A portal was visible further into the sewers. We decided to boldly go...

On the other side was a half-frozen hellscape. Ana gasped as she recognised it as the home of the Marauders. The realm known as Negative Space.
