Captain's Log Stardate 57677.2
Down The Rabbit Hole
We climbed down around 100 feet through a dark stone chimney. There was a little, distant glowing dark light at the bottom. We used our tricorders as torches to see. As a whole group, we advanced a carefully into the structure that must have been built beneath the temple. Scans of the temple and the structure beneath have revealed that they are some kind of native hard stone laced with neutronium, one of the hardest known substances to the Federation.
The large entrance way led into a central chamber with three door leading away from it. One to the North, one to the East and one to the West. We began by opening the door to the West using the same tricorder trick that we had used to open the exterior door. As a few of the team entered, we noticed that the Romulan Commander Tellok was looking a little... squirrelly. Thavliss was keeping a discrete eye on the Romulans. Subcommander Rekar entered the room the Chief Engineer Volta and others.
Gas
The room contained four engineering conduits and a console of unknown design. As Calan studied the console, the neutronium-laced door slammed shut and the room began to fill with gas. Calan quickly discovered that the console was a configuration terminal that could be used to alter the flow of gas. Along with manual alterations to the pipes behind the conduits, he theorised that the gas could be stopped. After several dangerous inhalations of gas and come rapid, creative engineering, Calan and the team managed to dissipate the gas from the room and the door re-opened. It was almost like someone was playing games with us...
DNA
We discovered at this point that only one door could be opened at a time. The door to the North was our next choice. Inside this door we found an array of bio-medical tools and supplies. There was a well-stocked chemical workbench, a sink, three bio-consoles and a pool of black oil in one corner. In the North wall was another door.
M7 examined the consoles and determined that they seemed to be used to input different DNA configurations. After some trial and error, M7 discovered that entering the DNA sequence for Romulan life caused a console to shut down. We shut a second console down with a Vulcan DNA profile and then finally, we took a DNA scan of the black oil and used its DNA to shut down the final console.
As the final console went dark, a bright yellow hologram appeared in the centre of the room showing a DNA strand that was a combination of the three inputted strains. M7 used the bio workbench to construct a vial of the DNA formula and then emptied it down the sink.
The hologram shifted and became a dark green image of eight tentacles emerging from a dark pit. The hologram vanished. The door in the North wall remained stubbornly closed.
And then adventure continues...
